ABOUT HELEN

“Who Am I?” Glad you asked. 🙂

Helen Hoefele
Figmentations LLC, Edison, NJ
“Where Creativity Meets Analysis.”

My name is: Helen H. I am a newly self-employed freelancer, based in Edison, New Jersey.  My main professional interests include both Excel-based projects and online content-writing assignments.

More technically-speaking:  While being a true fan of Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, I am a recent operating system convert.  Having moved away from the office desktop PC, I now work primarily on my beloved MacBook Pro laptop, though I am still comfortable in either environment.

My Current Journey

Last year, 2012, was the year that I decided to re-dedicate myself to my personal and professional development.

My Thoughts About Skills for the Future

It is my belief that, in order to thrive in this new economy amid information overload and disruptive technologies, it is important to keep constantly keep our communication and problem-solving skills sharp and agile.  We can no longer get by on what we may have become accustomed to doing in the past. The marketplace is changing too quickly for us not to adapt quickly, too.

More About My Thinking Style

While I may not be a top-billed thought leader at the moment, I do consider myself a thinker.  I am always curious.  What many people say about me, if asked, is that I always ask interesting questions.

Over the years, I have learned that critical-thinking, creative-thinking, and constructive-thinking all play an important role in the decisions we make in our lives on a daily basis. By participating in online conversations, I hope to contribute in some small way to furthering conversations that may eventually lead to improving the lives of others  and the world around us.

About My Current Career Path

Regarding my current career path, I don’t consider myself to be changing careers as much as to be expanding my opportunities, a.k.a., keeping myself marketable.

Currently, I am actively working on developing my analytic and communication skills by continuing my education and seeking out more active and challenging work experiences.  Feel free to contact me at any time, if you are interested in finding out more about my progress on this path.

Some Facts About My Background

For those of you who are interested in knowing a few more facts about my background, here they are:

  • Aside from a recent 6-month stint working in for a local SEO company, my corporate background includes 12 years working within the Consumer Packaged Goods Industry in various forms of Sales Analyst roles supporting Sales and Marketing functions and liaising between the business side and the Information Technology side of the business.
  • Along with my MBA in Marketing, I love working with data in order to evaluate quantitative and qualitative human behavior metrics, uncover insights, present findings and recommend next step actions.   My favorite tool of choice at the moment is Excel, though my past work with relational databases also includes many fond memories.

My Personal Interests

My personal interests, though mostly as a spectator, include a love of the performing arts, particularly musical theatre.  Hobbies I enjoy include: paper crafts, particularly pop-up cards; woodcarving; crocheting; and Ballroom & Latin dancing.

My Goals for This Blog

Via this blog and through various online channels, I plan to share with you as much actionable information, learnings, and insights about current creative problem-solving and analytical communication practices that I encounter.  I look forward to interacting with you and including you in my journey.  If you so choose to join me, I welcome you aboard with open arms!

Thank you for visiting.  I hope you enjoy your stay here.
