NOT SOLELY SPIRITUAL
Purpose is often spiritual in nature. And, to paraphrase Google, being spiritual is “concerned with or affecting the spirit or soul”. Isn’t the soul what makes people human?
For people who are religious, purpose is often described as a higher calling, i.e., utilizing your God-given talents and/or discovering what we/you were put on this earth to do.
For non-spiritual people, purpose may center more around the meaning of life which, according to Wikipedia, “constitutes a philosophical question concerning the purpose and significance of life or existence in general.”
Now, I don’t want to trigger any kind of existential angst by bringing this up here, so don’t get too hung up on overanalyzing this right now. I simply want to point out that purpose matters (to people and even to companies) whether they are religious or spiritual, or not.
Even a company or business is more successful if its employees believe they are working for a higher purpose than simply making money for the boss and for a paycheck to exist or survive.
If employees of a company believe that the products or services they produce and sell provide a solution that improves people’s lives, they are much more inspired and dedicated in what they do.
Purpose can be about religion, but it can also be separate from religion.
To me, purpose is about feeling alive inside.
What areas of your life are full of spirit or soul or meaning? What areas might need some recharging?
