When I read the one Associated Press article that more people than evern are starving in Africa (”…Hunger and malnutrition kill nearly 6 million children a year, and more people are malnourished in sub-Saharan Africa this decade than in the 1990s, according to a U.N. report released Tuesday….)….then I read the article about the pardoned White House turkey being flown first class to DisneyWorld…all I can say to myself is that: “You’ve got to be kidding”, though I’m embarassed to realize, “They’re serious”.

Pardoned Turkey Is Going to Disneyland

ANAHEIM, Calif. - President Bush is set to make the traditional pardon of a Thanksgiving turkey today. But this bird isn’t heading to some petting zoo. It’s going to Disneyland.The 35-pound Tom Turkey will be grand marshall of the Disneyland Thanksgiving Day parade.
And the big bird is flying west in style. After the reprieve on the White House lawn, the turkey and it’s alternate will be given a police escort to a Washington-area airport.
From there they’ll fly first-class to Los Angeles. After the parade duties are over, the turkeys will live out their days at a Disneyland ranch.
