The Future of Corporate Blogging

Based on recent posts on the Micropersuasion blog by Steve Rubel referencing coporate blogging, I found the following highlights to be of interest.

The first post from Steve Rubel’s site lead me to a recent article in The Economist regarding corporate blogging at Microsoft by “The Scobleizer“. A direct quote from this article in The Economist is…..

…the clarifying force will be credibility and reputation…..

Also, pointed out in this article were suppositions around the potential for any of the following:

  • potential for corporate blogging to replace traditional PR…or at least supplement it
  • potential for opinions expressed to lead to litigation thus changing the environment again
  • potential for corporate bloggers, or evangelists, to become one with company opinion

The second post from Steve Rubel’s blog is referencing the potential corporate backlash. Steve Rubel’s Micropersuasion conclusion speaks for itself……

The real truth is you can’t “manage the Internet.” All you can do is listen to it and jump in and speak in a human voice. Those who do this will win. Those who don’t will lose. It’s that simple. Nevertheless, some companies will never get it. Others will, but it will take time.
