PETA is against furs for vanity, but is not against the use of existing furs as warmth for the poor. Interesting.

An animal rights group handed out dozens of fur coats Wednesday to some homeless residents of a Washington, DC city shelter. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals opposes the killing of animals for furs. Spokesman William Rivas-Rivas says they don’t want people to wear furs for vanity, but the city’s neediest residents will wear discarded ones for warmth.- The Associated Press
